There's a Whole Lot of Me That Isn't Surprised

Republican Senators love them some stocking wearing women. In fact, they insist this fetish be indulged in the office, at all times and in all weather. Ladies, I got your back. Hell, I got your fronts, too.

The basic issue here is...I'm straight up confused actually. Are they being sexist? Do they think they are training new staff to the costume of the professional government? Given the Republican habit of repression and general cobagishness in the area of social freedom, I am leaning toward sexist. The insistence that women wear hose underneath a pant suit is strange. Strange like a man wearing a diaper to work or trying to grab toilet paper from the stall to the right with his left hand.

I can't help but feel that this is somehow related.

"...she was pulled aside by a supervisor and debriefed..."

Has an entirely unexpected meaning in this post.

Porterhouse!!!

I would argue that it's a patriarchy issue. Fundies are very strict about these sorts of things as well. The fanatical re-borns only permit women to wear skirts below their knees and prefer to the ankle because a woman's legs should not be shown.

I will have to do some research on this.

ick. wearing pantyhose underneath pants is one of the worst feelings in the world.

The republicans should change the name of from pantyhose to freedomhose, and then they can denounce any woman who complains about them as anti-american.

AG, that is the number one reason why I can't be a fundie. They don't like the look of women. What strange people.

M&C, I'll take your word for it.

Shannon, they probably already have and do. They don't understand that true freedom comes only in nudity. Whee!

Jeez, another Republican Fetish On Parade.

I've said it before and I'll say it right here: Republicans ould be much happier if they could just come to terms with their own kinks, and find a like minded partner. Instead of all the legislative acting out.

the subtext of this story is not that women should wear pantyhose under pants, it is that women should not be wearing pants.

I guess that is just so crazy for the internet generation, that most people seem to be missing it.

Actually, I also agree with AG that part of it is the patriarchy issue (I'm a junior-league Patriarchy-blamer!)

But knowing that there is a whole section of kink devoted to pantyhose in various forms, I think at least part of the frisson is the nylon thing, accentuated by the power/control aspect. The two obsessions just kind of feedback on each other.

As well as just being cobags in general, of course.

how else could the ol' boys refer to ladies as 'skirts'?

If they had any real dignity, they'd have worn the pantyhose over their heads while looting the Treasury.
