Operation Chuck Splurge

I am suddenly in a position to pay for stuff. Specifically, stuff I have already bought, perhaps foolishly, with my solitary credit card. I am not going nuts with new loot, as I already own too much junk for the ascetic life I sometimes claim to idealize. I am going to be buying BSG series 2.0 and 2.5 and Firefly, but other than that, I am putting the rest in saving and into my debt hole. Time to start filling that abyss.

I am also investigating a vacation in Slovakia in July. I have earned it. Two weeks, maybe three, of enjoying a fantastically awesome country with bars and clubs and castles and forests. I am no exactly a loner, but things are shaping up that way. I have only one single friend at the moment and he has a job that is rather more difficult to just abandon for a few weeks than mine, I am willing to bet that he won't be able to come. Given my habit of torching every relationship, I am also willing to bet that I won't be travelling with a lady at my side. Meh. I can take it or leave it. Or her, as it were. Besides, have you met any Slovaks lately? Gotterdammerung! Or whatever.

PS. I also plan to spend 50 or 60 bucks on some new music. Suggestions appreciated. Right now I am definitely getting some Man Man, some perhaps coherent Animal Collective and maybe Sigur Ros. Goddam that Questionable Content.

Congrats on the newfound booty, however long it lasts you. If you are going to get Animal Collective, either buy Feels or try the new Panda Bear. I'll bet the new Andrew Bird CD is going to be amazing, if that kind of thing floats your boat. New Low????

Word verificaiton: mrhaiphu. Who the fuck is Mr. Haiphu and what does he want with me?

Chuckles, you're really a male escort, aren't you???

Oh, jennifer, was that you on Friday? Thanks for the tip, even if it wasn't exactly comparable to mine.

HEY! I just realized that it has been more than a week or two since I referenced my wang in such a blatant way! Go me!

Thanks for the suggestions, UC.

Does backing into a wang reference hurt?

UC could go with you in July if it isn't when we are talking about going to Alaska. UC is very fun to travel with. Especially in Wyoming.

Did you rob a bank?

P.S. I heard Brittney is going to be putting out some new tunes soon.

Oh Jennifer, there are a thousand ways for me to answer your question, and not a single one doesn't involve Chuckle's massive wang and the fact that even though it would hurt, you'd like it so so much. Since AG would kill me for making a single backdoor joke, I'll refrain from commenting.

UC, what are you talking about?! Why are you over here flirting with Jennifer?! It's not like she's going to make you some cookies or something.

Not get back in your cage or there will be no dinner for you or Cupcake Cafe again, evar.

Jennifer, I provide references upon request.

By way of music, I advocate for you buying the latest from The Cliks (although the CD's not officially out till next month) and Gogol Bordello.

But that's just me.

And Sigur Ros is amazing. If you've never seen them live, I highly recommend it.

I can't take either Sigur Ros or Golgol Bordello. And your bro already has Golgol Bordello, borrow it. But then I'm still listening to Pet Shop Boys. Teh - no comments.

Chuckles said...

The question is: which of the brothers of indefinite number has the Golgol Bordello, but I think I know which one it is.

Sigur Ros is now definitely one of the 5 albums I am buying, but which one? The others are one by Man Man and Panda Bear or Feels by Animal Collective.

Chuckles, do you not have any Sigur Ros? What, were you raised by wolves????

Here is my ranking of their CDs:

Ágætis Byrjun > Tak... > () > Von

As for their singles and EPs, Svefn-G-Englar is worth having, as it has the best song from Ágætis Byrjun as well as the kick-ass live tracks, Nyja Lagid and Syndir Guds, which are my favourite Sigur Ros songs period.

I will see what I can do, UC. There is no Amoeba equivalent in DC.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.

UC, you were the one raised by wolves. Oh wait, no personal shit on the blogs...

Ágætis Byrjun is by far the best Sigur Ros CD, definitely. It's black with an angel foetus on the cover.

I dunno about dandrobium, but if you like bands like the Pogues and you like punk, you'll probaby like Gogol Bordello. If you don't, you won't.

But personally, any band that has a song called, "Think Locally, Fuck Globally" is all right with me.

Chuckles, does this trip to Europe include a detour to England for a few days? I'll be in Italy the beginning of the month, and may have a mass graves workshop scheduled at some point, but that doesn't mean you can't stop by and say hi for the first time in, what, 5 years? :P

England is EXPENSIVE with a capital HOW MUCH DID I JUST PAY FOR THIS COFFEE?

Mark just bought a Jem cd. I like it but will you?
