Ooh snap, chuckles. Sorry. My post today was a bit dismissive -- thirty lashes with a wet noodle.
Anyway, what a bizarre way to go. I mean, all the poisonous snakes and crocodiles and such, and he gets done in by a stingray! I've fished for them before in the Bay (good eatin'.) People get stung all the time -- usually waders or fishermen, and the wounds end up on the lower legs. The wounds are almost never fatal. Just how the hell do you get a barb in your chest???
The Motivational Posters thread on RPG.net has a whole mess of posters on Steve's death (pages 630-634) and I am actually getting choked up.
He was a kind of a clown and I haven't seen one of his shows in years, but I watched them every chance I could until the summer of 2004, when I moved out of my free cable apartment. I even own the 50 minute Biography of Irwin video. What a guy.
I'm sitting here watching Miami Ink. Some skeezy Florida white trash is getting a portrait of his brother, who died in a drunk driving accident, tattooed on his flabby torso.

Close enough.
I'll miss you Steve Irwin.
Wow! What a way to die...
I guess he went out with his boots (fins) on.
I know. I'M FREAKING OUT!!! I loved him. It's so wierd...but when I read about it this morning...it really made me sad and I don't even know the guy.

It was underneath him. Bizarre. He died as he lived, though. There isn't much better than that.
I agree, Chuckles. A shame he went so young, and I feel for his wife and kids, but he was doing what he loved.
