The Race for the Ward 3 Council Seat Heats Up!

I was walking back to work tonight and I spotted a blonde woman (AG?) dressed in black sweats ripping down signs for Marie Cheh (I think that is spelled correctly). These are blue with white lettering and I saw a few of them in a trash can the other day. This race is getting pretty dirty. I don't know anything about the candidates but I am not voting for anyone that voted for the fucking Nationals' stadium. If the council can vote for a special tax to build a motherfucking baseball stadium, then they can enact a tax to fix the crumbling DC Public School infrastructure (I am not exagerrating this, the schools are literally falling apart). Or the massive lead problem in the drinking water. Or the sewer system that routinely dumps raw sewage into the Anacostia and Potomac rivers. Or the public libraries that are temporarily being shut down for the forseeable future.

Anyway, I have the plates and a description of the car in case it is illegal to remove signs. I was walking right past her car as she drove away. I could probably (95%) identify her in a line up.

UPDATE OF THE SLIGHTLY LESS THAN NEWSWORTHY TYPE: I saw one of the Marie Cheh posters yesterday. It had been vandalized with a PART TIME sticker slapped on the big Cheh. Given the size of the sticker, it won't be legible to the people that drive by on Redacted Avenue. How Rovian, if Rove were 6 years old again.

It's not illegal to tear down others signs. It would however be of interest to the opposing party and worth calling their team to share it. It shows how lame these folks are. Any race I worked for, we were always told that there was to be NO sign stealing or defacing.

I would take credit for this event, except I don't wear sweats!

I am with you Chuckles, if I could vote in DC I would shun any of those corporate thieves that voted for the stadium.

Well it depends on where you are, and what kind of property the signs are on. And you may know, chucklodius, here in California, in some cases it is a prosecutable offense. And in any case, if your opponent can prove that you had his/her signs taken down, that can totally lose you the election if the act is broadcast far and wide enough...

Definitely tends to be a Republican more than a Democratic stunt, in my experience.

I think that removing the signs from someone's lawn is off limits but this woman was ripping them off telephone poles.

I shook my head at her and gave her the eye as she drove past me.

has anyone done a compilation of how much money the fuckers on top have in their kitties?

all the members of the white house together would probably work out to about half a billion, add in the senate and you've got maybe another quarter billion

of course this is all without counting the pork-barrels rolling around everywhere.

and these people give themselves raises like nobody's business.

either hookers&blow cost way too much in DC or these people are greedy little assholes.

They are shutting down various libraries for renovations. Some of the libraries are actually being renovated but the scuttlebut is that there are more than a few that aren't being renovated. I would be willing to bet the renovated ones are all in NW (the wealthy part of town).

It is illegal in the District to deface or remove campaign posters. The person you witnessed was indeed breaking the law.

Since Cheh actually won the Democratic Primary, her posters are allowed to remain through the November general election.

The person you witnessed should be reported to the DC Board of Elections and Ethics (dcboee.dc.gov)
