The Descent: Alternate Endings

Yeah, umm, ok. YouTube has the original ending for The Descent. So do I. Don't watch it unless you like spoilers. It is not a huge spoil, though.

My imagined endings were far worse.
Scenario 1: It starts with the close up on Sarah's eyes in the torchlight, pretty much the same as the one above but she shudders a bit and then the camera moves out and we see that she is being eaten.
Scenario 2: She joins the gribblies in their subterranean existence.
Scenario 3: She joins the gribblies in their subterranean existence and we see that she is pregnant.

There has been some chatter about this movie on several forums, just check out Google. If I were forced at gun point to make remakes of movies, I would probably prefer death. That is just how I am. I might choose to rewrite this script without the gribblies and make it more a study of the insanities and relationships in the group. I wonder if you could make a horror movie without a monster. The Blair Witch was brilliant in this way. I would really like to see a movie or your recommendations that has no monsters at all. Kontroll had a similar plot line in that you were never really certain that the villian existed outside of the mind of the protagonist. There was also the thriller(horror?) The Hole, but that had more of a drama feel. I want a palpable menace and a paucity of monsters.

I saw this movie via UK DVD, so this original ending is the only one I know. I found the movie pretty average and not terribly scary - but not bad, either. Certainly better than the Hollywood average.

I now wonder what the ending they're showing in the theaters here is.

BTW, I think your first ending idea would be way cool.

After the UK ending, I was almost let down because it didn't live up to the hype of the dark ending. Sure, it is dark and creepy and is completely consistent with the rest of the movie, but if she had joined the gribblies?

eoh.

And was recreating the family with the gribblies? eoh.

And then the sequel could be absurdist comedy, beginning with the Brady Bunch theme:

"Here's a story/
of a girl who boinked gribblies..."

Those guys are about the same level of utility as the Shootaliberal dorks.

These new schmucks have ads and stuff, but write less coherently than the other dorks, so they are about even.

It will be fun for a while to make fun of them simply because they can't spell or write. I mean, unless they aer so bad because English is their second language and they are self taught, then I'll just feel like an asshole.

A better alternate ending:

She wakes up in the cave. The camera pans out and you see all her friends on the floor. She's gone mad and killed them all herself. There are no gribbles!
