Other Hobbies

Apparently, I've been confusing the cry of a red-tailed hawk with the cry of a blue jay. Whoops.

Wow.
Yawn.

No no no, the call of a blue jay is more a shrill screech than a yawn.

What's the sound a blue jay makes when it's being eaten by a red-tailed hawk?

SKWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK

Basically, the same sound AG makes when someone makes fun of her.

blue jays are pretty but mean. Raptors are awesome.

"Evolve" sounds like dinner at my house.

Blue jays are the bullies of the bird feeder, Kathleen. They live off the profits of merciless beatings of house sparrows on every block.

Chuckles, I was briefly in a bird sanctuary this afternoon, and saw four blue jays take on a red-tailed hawk. It was crazy. For the record, the only sounds I heard were from the jays. Around my work, we are being blanketed by hawks, and I've seen some pretty frightening sights.

Hawk blankets sound cool, like a super-power or something.

"Hawk blanket! AWAY!" AWKRAWKAWK!

I just had a Marc Singer flashback.

This should help.
Also: House sparrows spike the eggs of other birds to get an edge on the competition.

Nice blog by-the-way.
