Disdain
League of Democracies? What the hell is wrong with the UN? Oh, right, Republican'ts think the UN is only obstructing America's interests abroad. What a jackass.
The only thing I can think of every time someone mentions this dumbass idea is: if they create this, they damn well better build this as the headquarters:
In all fairness, a legitimate complaint about the UN is that countries with miserable human rights records get to chair the human rights commissions. Which makes no sense to me either.
The entire idea sounds like an expansion of the G8 concept to include democracies and countries with fairly decent ideals. As opposed to countries run by dictators or crackpots who abuse their people.

Or countries that don't investigate allegations of massive electioneering. Or investigate the workings of their new voting machines.

I saw a diagram the other day that color coded countries according to how they treated human rights.
America was black. Black was the worst.
The other black countries? Russia. China. a couple of other dictatorships.
America is now one of the worst human rights violators in the world.
Our founders would be appalled.
Certain inalienable civil rights are being alienated?
Point.
Well, the criticism made more sense a couple of 10 years ago before the secret prison system and torture.
