Update on the Fire Hydrant Situation

A crew replaced the broken hydrant in front of my apartment yesterday. All you tokers in my building may feel free to light another spliff, but I would still prefer it if you didn't set fire to the building. Just in case.

Apparently the situation around the city just keeps getting worse however. The DC Fire Chief is saying that it looks like more than 25% of the hydrants in DC aren't working. The WASA General Manager is saying "that only a fraction of hydrants are out of service." That is technically correct. 25% can also be called one quarter which we all know is a fraction of a whole.

Jackass.

Maybe it will rain. Then you won't have to rely on competence.

That reminds me of the time it rained so hard, the basement of the National Archives flooded and nearly soaked the Articles of Freedom. It wasn't even that bad of a storm, but there you have it.

That's beyond ridiculous and incompetent. Good lord.

Articles of Freedom? Do you mean the Articles of Confederation?

the terrorists hate us for our water-logged Articles of Freedom.

If I remember correctly, the Washington Post article called them the Articles of Freedom. This was a reference to the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

Dude, DC only cares about WMDs and no tax and spend.

You need to focus!

But you have such great representation in both the House and Senate. You know that your tax dollars are hard at work, and that your situation is not even close to a perfect metaphor for the nation.

Metaphors are my chief weapon. Metaphors and allegories. And sarcasm. Metaphors, allegories and sarcasm are among my chief weapons.
