Coffee Update

So I asked out the cute girl at my local Starbucks. I haven't yet determined if this will turn out to be a complete whale hunt or not. Things went pretty bad for a chat up on Thursday. I suddenly turned all shy when I was trying to ask her out. And then there was an audience of people trying to get coffee when previously there had been none. If it weren't for the excellent backup of Superman, Batman would never have gotten to the point of giving her his phone number. Normally, I am not a shy guy, but asking a girl out in front of a bunch of tweaked out cap-heads threw me off my game, such as it is.

Perhaps I should clarify. They know me as Batman because one day when I was really zoned out I went in there with a Batman shirt on. Superman called me Bruce as he gave me my coffee and I thought he had me mistaken for somebody else. So that's a whole injoke between me and him. Turns out the Green Lantern works there, too.

Might I suggest the new Coldplay album or anything by Sufjan Stevensl if you need music.

I wouldn't mind living in a tropical zone with women that put out lie broken candy machines. But I live in DC and I am more of a loner anyway.

Or is that loser?

Oh...poor thing. That's the thing I would hate most about being a guy. i wouldn't have the nerve to be the person who always has to do the asking out.

Don't buy the Coldplay album or all of my musical training will be for naught! Sufjan is good but I don't know how seductive his music is. Although see here for how seductive he apparently is.

I'll throw out Animal Collective's new album Feelings for a moderately daring album that goes from songs into background noises. A little "challenging" for make-out music, perhaps.

Animal Collective, huh? I have a few hours to kill before the date on Friday and I was going to hit the music shop anyway, but I am not planning or angling to bring her to my place on the first date.

Call me old fashioned, but I am trying taking things slow this time.

And I must agree with the fulminating fulsome about Coldplay. They are a little to Top 40s for me.

Linny: It's a hard knock life, but occaisonally it works out well. The hardest thing is making that first call after getting a phone number, not the actual acquiring of said number. it helps if you have the three Gs on your side.

Good, Gregarious and Gigantor.

Well, I still think Coldplay is good. However, they are hardly being overplayed in Africa.

Check out Dot Allison if you get a chance, I have only heard a few of her songs, but they aren't bad and might be good mood music for later.

I was thinking Dar Williams, S. MacLachlan, Meredith Brooks and K.D. Lang. I think I should go for the 'I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body' vibe...
